EAT

So I've spent the last few months at CSM exploring the fields of different pathways by dipping in and out of a number of them. These have mainly consisted of short day-long projects and a couple of week-long projects; so they were a complete taster of the pathway courses on offer. However, before our half term and assessment weeks, I completed a longer two week project in 3DDA (3D Design and Architecture). Within this pathway I choose to work on the project related to the body, so long story short, basically jewellery and (body) accessory.

The project brief was to create a wearable object that celebrates the act of eating. This is to be achieved through primary and secondary research and idea development as well as practical use of the workshops. (The work shops are amazing because you can do so much in them; they have workshop for materials like wood, plastic and metal but they also have stitch workshops and so on. So many options!)

As part of my research, I used the restaurants and locations of 'fancy' places I had previously been to eat in. Once I took a bit of a step back from these restaurants, I realised that 90% were from dates that I had been on. So from this, I was headed onto the idea of creating something for (don't laugh) a 'date night'. 

One thing led to another and I began to infiltrate the idea of creating something seductive, as I was also interested in the seductive appeal of food, as well as creating something suggestive for a date. Eventually I realised that part of the seduction of food was in how it was presented to the other senses; so how sizzling food sounds, or the colour of a decadent dessert.  I chose to focus on the sweet smells that entice men towards women. After asking around and doing further research, I found that men were attracted to floral scents.
SO, to cut this story super short... I looked at the bleeding heart and created this piece of, erm, wearable jewellery... 

At least it's seductive right...

Anyways, so at the end of the two weeks, we had a little mini exhibition, where we presented our pieces and or A2 design proposal sheets. We got to also have a look at the other groups' works withing in 3DDA. It was interesting as we all had the 'Eat' project brief and had to apply it to our fields, so it was cool to see what the budding architects and product designers made relating to food. 

The Big Draw- A Campaign for Drawing

The worlds biggest celebration of drawing kicked off at the V&A's Big Draw, Big Make. There were a great number of free pop up workshops around the museum led by working and established contemporary artists, illustrators, architects and more. I'm not a promoter of the even or anything like that, I just really enjoyed it and I think it's a shame for so many people to miss out in stuff like this simply because they're not advertised enough. I can't even remember how I came across the event, but it was for sure a total accident.

What's really great about this event is that it allows everyone an opportunity to get creative and to release their inner artist. I think it was also an inspiring event for the young ones and all the budding artists. The museum was filled with many children and aspiring artists and designers. Being in a community exposed to established artists helped a lot of them create goals and aims for what they want to grow up to be, or even the wondering students who are going to have to pick their careers.

OOTD

Hey, quick OOTD from a few days ago
A super hot day in London so I decided to wear this cute denim playsuit from Asos. (Also, super hot day, therefore absolutely no effort on my face or hair, so please do excuse it...)

What an adorable print! I love the shape of the playsuit- the cut is so 60s! 

To add a touch of decency, I decided to pair it up with a cardigan. I decided to pick out on the the pink tones and accent it with a burgundyesq cardi, from Bershka, in Spain

And my favourite little ankle boots to lengthen my legs.

A/W Season Trends

Hey guys, how are all you Londoners enjoying the whole Olympic halla-ball-oo? At least the sun comes out every now and then, right? ANYWAYS, it's that time of year again, that seasonal, transitional period from Summer into Autumn. Sometimes predicting fashion trends and deciding what to buy during these periods can be tough, SO, let me lighten up your work load and help you out on a few trends, 'cause I'm JUST THAT NICE!

So the tailored look has pretty much been around for a while, stronger in some seasons, but for AW, you're gonna want to look for those sharp clean cuts and tailored silhouettes.

Throughout the seasons, a number of prints and patterns seem to own the spotlight, but for now, we're shining it on dogtooth, paisley and leopard prints, fo' sho'. But don't be afraid to try out other prints; in a lot of cases, it's not necessarily the print you wear, but the wear your carry it. 

Peplum has been rocking Summer trends and there's not reason it isn't gonna carry on rocking Autumn. Luckily, this has got to be one of the most flattering trends for ALL body shapes, so I'd definitely try this one out. 

Ah panels, subtly sneaking its way in to being one of the hottest trends.There are many ways to pull this look off, even a loose shift dress with some good paneling can really highlight certain body shapes so do your research on this one. 

Hopefully you can also see how some of the trends seem to overlap, which isn't always a common thing, but for AW 2012, tackling multiple looks is in!

And just to finish off with some of the other super trends that I haven't talked about... try out embellished tops and dresses, don't underestimate the power of lace, the whole grunge and rock n'roll looks are definitely making a prompt comeback, so think studs and loads of jewelry accessories and pop art tops and jumpers are also making a debut in our fashion world.

HEY! So I just got back from my Summer holiday in Barcelona a few days ago... It was awesome! I'm not going to make this a long post, but here are a few montages or picture recap of my trip:

So... as you can see, it was a busy trip, but anyways, here's what I wore on the plane.
To Barcelona:

This isn't exactly what I wore on the plane; I had tights and a leather jacket on, as well as the boots (the same ones on the way to London) But it was so hot when we got to Barcelona I had to reduce some of the layers...

What you choose to wear on a plane should always be practical and comfortable, and for me, shorts and these boots are the most comfortable things for me to wear, therefore I centered my plane outfits around them. Also, the hat I wore on the way to London isn't meant to be some kind of fashion statement... I bought it in Spain and it seemed to make more logical sense to wear it than to stuff it in my luggage! So there's a tip for you; wear items that you buy on holiday! 

Anyways, hope this helped create some inspiration! :)

Guess Who's Back...

Hey! I am so sorry I have not blogged in such a long time, I've had so much going on recently and A levels literally crushing my soul :| 

BUT, I'm here! I'm back! Here's a quick 'outfit of the day' post to get started.

So, what is one to do with after exams with their new found sense of freedom? I think we all know the answer to that... hit the CLUBS! With my new exam free and school free lifestyle I celebrated freedom in London, which started as a super hectic night because it was also to celebrate my friends birthday but we had some issues with the club. SO we had to run around to like 5 different clubs, in HEELS, might I add, looking for a new club. It all worked out in the end, but here's what I wore to give you some inspiration. :)

A simple sequin top with a pair of shorts- such minimal effort!

2012 Trends

Hey, sorry I've not written in a really long time, had exams and interviews etc. and I have just been really busy with stuff in general, but hey!! Promise after my summer exams I'll be posting regularly.

Anyways, since I'm really tight on time, and fashion week's been and gone, here's a super quick update on spring 2012 trends.

We're loving the florals this year again. Go wild and tropical or pretty simple garden style. Either way, there's a place for florals from your dressed down walks down the streets to your fancy garden parties.

Colour block was so in last summer, and winter made use of its boldness too. This spring, colours are in. Vibrant citrus and hot pinks are a must for any individual with attitude to scream.

Chic 60s style, from cute blouses to perfect shift dresses, is one that suits all. The lovely silhouettes from 60s outfits proves to be super flattering for all so don't miss out!

3D frills also coming back in, keep thinking about pleats and the shapes that can come alive.

Ethic, animal and African prints, just like florals are becoming a standard spring/summer go to trend. But tho year, they're coming back even harder. Be adventurous with this trend; of you're gonna go there, GO THERE! Bring out the Bohemian goddess inside.

Neutral shades such as cream and beige are officially an elegant trend you must master. Neutrals are generally great for staple pieces in your wardrobe, but this year, they really are big enough to be their own trend. Seriously, neutrals this spring are really Bringing the fresh clean look.

As well as neutrals, pastels are rising in the fashion world again. Thing of those sugary macaroon tone and cool ice-cream shades.

And finally, a brand new trend; Sporty! In light of the fabulous Olympic games being held in the UK, we Brits are certainly milking some inspiration. Zipped up sporty jackets , shorts, sweatshirts- go for it all!

And please don't forget the basics, like stripes- they can be so easy and casual and so super chic too!
